The ace director wanted to cast Rajinikanth as the controversial activist

At the audio launch of the Traffic Ramasamy biopic in the city on Monday, filmmaker Shankar revealed that he wanted to write a character for Rajinikanth based on Traffic Ramasamy. He said, “I actually thought so because I felt it would suit his age, but somehow things never fell in place.”

Shankar, who presided over the event as the chief guest, also said Traffic Ramasamy was the inspiration for his lead characters Senapathy (Indian) and Ambi (Anniyan).

Director Ram, lyricist Vairamuthu, and Shoba Chandrasekar were among those present at the event. Debutant Vicky is directing the biopic based on the controversial activist. SA Chandrasekar plays the titular role, while Rohini will reportedly play Ramasamy’s wife. The film also stars Prakash Raj, Khushbu Sundar, Ambika, Mohan Raman and Seeman in supporting roles.
