Director Velu Prabhakaran turns villain for Gangs of Madras

Sai Priyanka Ruth, who was seen in supporting roles in films like Metro and Enakku Vaaitha Adimaigal, will be playing the lead in this film based on the life of a real-life gangster

CV Kumar's upcoming directorial, Gangs of Madras, which went on the floors recently, will have Kadavul-director Velu Prabhakaran playing the role of an antagonist for the first time in his career. The makers have also announced that Sai Priyanka Ruth, who was seen in supporting roles in films like Metro and Enakku Vaaitha Adimaigal, will be playing the lead in this film based on the life of a real-life gangster. 

It was earlier speculated that Kailaiarasan would feature in an important role in the film. But, it has come to light that the actor has been replaced by Muruga-fame Ashok Kumar. Apart from these actors, the film also stars Daniel Balaji, Adukalam Naren and Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom-fame Bhagavathi Perumal in pivotal roles. 

Gangs of Madras marks the second directorial venture of producer-turned-filmmaker CV Kumar, after last year's sci-fi psychological thriller, Maayavan. The film, which has music by debutant Hari Dafusia and cinematography by Karthik Thillai, is currently being shot in live locations in North Madras. The makers are eyeing a 2019 summer release.
