Vietnamese actor Johnny Tri Nguyen, who debuted in Tamil cinema with AR Murugadoss’ 7aam Arivu, received a lot of accolades for his portrayal of the character Tong Lee in that film. The actor, who went on to act in Atharvaa’s Irumbu Kuthirai, is also a trained martial arts choreographer.

The latest buzz is that Johnny Tri Nguyen has been signed to play the main antagonist in Vijay’s Sarkar. However, there is no official confirmation on this. Meanwhile, sources say that the team will be shifting base to USA for a ten-day final schedule after a week's shoot in Chennai.

There are rumours that Vijay plays the role of an NRI who returns to India for the welfare of the people. The film, starring Keerthy Suresh as the female lead, also features Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Radha Ravi, Pazha Karuppiah, Yogi Babu and Prem Kumar. AR Rahman, Girish Gangadharan, and Sreekar Prasad will handle the film's music, cinematography and editing, respectively.

Sri Thenandal Films, which produced Vijay's Mersal, is reportedly the frontrunner to get the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights for Sarkar, which is scheduled for release this Diwali.
