Mohanlal will be reuniting with Manichithrathazhu director Fazil after a long gap in Prithviraj's directorial debut Lucifer. Fazil is reportedly playing the role of a priest who is a mentor to Mohanlal's character in the film.

Both Fazil and Mohanlal made their entry in Malayalam cinema through Manjil Virinjha Pookkal, in which Mohanlal played the antagonist. The film was Fazil's directorial debut. The two have acted together before in Nokethadoorathu Kannum Nattu.
