Njan Marykutty-fame Ranjith Shankar has announced that his next will be a sequel to his 2016 film Pretham, whose genre is a favourite of Ranjith's. The film starred Jayasurya as a mentalist who is brought in to investigate a paranormal activity. The plan is to release it in time for Christmas. 

Pretham 2 will be Ranjith's seventh collaboration with Jayasurya. The director's fruitful collaboration with the actor began with 2013's Punyalan Agarbattis. A sequel, titled Punyalan Private Limited, was released last year. The duo's biggest success so far is Su.. Su... Sudhi Vathmeekam, which fetched Jayasurya a National and State award.
