The long-delayed Pon Ondru Kanden might go on floors with a fresh cast. One of the producers of the film, Gautham Menon broke the news during a recent media interaction. The director-producer said that the budget of the film became much higher than what he had anticipated, so he may re-launch the film with a new set of actors matching his budget. He also added that he did not want to repeat the same mistake he made with his previous venture, Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum, which failed to recover its production cost and bombed at the box office.

Pon Ondru Kanden, the official remake of Telugu hit Pelli Choopulu, which was supposed to be helmed by Gautham Menon's former assistant Senthil Veerasamy, was announced early last year. Vishnu Vishal and Tamannaah were roped in to reprise the roles of Vijay Deverakonda and Ritu Varma, respectively, and the shooting was meant to commence in August. But the film's launch got postponed several times due to various reasons and Vishnu opted out of the project citing other acting commitments in December.

Meanwhile, Gautham Menon is currently busy shooting the last schedule of his other delayed project, Enai Noki Paayum Thota with Dhanush. He also has Vikram's Dhruva Natchathiram in the pipeline.
