Vidya Balan has joined the sets of her debut Telugu film, NTR, based on the life of legendary actor-politician Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao, popularly called NTR. The Dirty Picture actor essays the role of NTR’s wife Basavatarakam in the film directed by Krish and mounted on a lavish scale by Sai Korrapati, Vishnu Induri and Balakrishna.

Vidya met the family members of NTR, including the film’s lead actor Balakrishna and gathered details about Basavatarakam. NTR’s daughter Lokeswari has welcomed the Bollywood actor by presenting her with a saree. Also present during Vidya’s visit were Balakrishna’s wife Vasundhara Devi, younger daughter Tejaswini and Sri Bharat.

The film’s shoot is currently underway at RFC and the team will start filming portions involving Vidya and Balayya later this week. NTR also features a number of other stars including Keerthy Suresh, Rana Daggubati, Sumanth and Ravi Kishan. MM Keeravani is scoring the music for the film that is slated to release for Sankranthi.
