The first look of Kammattipadam-fame Vinayakan's next film has been released. Titled Karinthantan, the film is based on the legend of Karinthantan, a tribal chieftain who lived in Wayanad between 1700-1750 AD. Vinayakan will play the titular role.

Documentary filmmaker Leela is making her feature debut with Karinthantan. Collective Phase One, the production company co-owned by Rajeev Ravi, is bringing the film to the big screen. The company was also behind Rajeev Ravi's Kammattipadam and Njaan Steve Lopez. 

Vinayakan won much critical acclaim for his performance in Kammattipadam. He recently appeared in Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil, and will be seen next as the antagonist in Gautham Menon's Dhruva Natchathiram.
