Post the success of Baahubali, the makers decided to cash in on the popularity of the franchise by releasing the book, The Rise of Sivagami, a prequel written by Anand Neelakantan. Now, it has come to light that Netflix is exploring the possibility of making a web series based on the book.

The series is expected to explore the life of Sivagami Devi and her rise as a queen as well as the relationship she shared with her son, her husband, and Kattappa. SS Rajamouli, director of the epic franchise, will be co-directing the series alongside Deva Katta of Prasthanam-fame.

Deva Katta believes the Baahubali films made a huge impact with their unique storytelling and expects the prequel to continue the excitement generated by the originals. Details regarding the cast and crew are expected to be announced soon.
