After a long wait, it has come to light that Megha Chowdury will play the female lead opposite Vikram's son, Dhruv, in Bala's Varma. The Bengal based model will be reprising Shalini Pandey's role in this remake of the Telugu superhit, Arjun Reddy.

It was earlier speculated that Gautami's daughter Subbulakshmi or Sillunu Oru Kaadhal-fame child artiste-turned-heroine Shriya Sharma would bag the role.

While Easwari Rao, who played Rajinikanth's wife in Kaala, plays an important character, the film will also feature Bigg Boss-fame Raiza Wilson, who recently wrapped up shooting for Pyaar Prema Kaadhal, in a special appearance. Varma will have dialogues by Joker-fame filmmaker Raju Murugan, who is currently shooting for Gypsy with Jiiva.

Bankrolled by E4 Entertainment, the production house behind hit Malayalam films like Ezra and Godha, the shooting of Varma is progressing at a brisk pace and the film is expected to hit the screens later this year.
