Vipin Sharma plays 'intense and complex' role in Daas Dev

The Taare Zameen Par fame actor plays a politician in Sudhir Mishra's upcoming film

Actor Vipin Sharma, who essayed the role of father to the protagonist in Taare Zameen Par, plays the intense part of a politician in Sudhir Mishra's Daas Dev.

"Daas Dev is a fierce political drama and I play the interesting role of a politician who has his own complex notions and feels it is absolutely fine to shed blood for the welfare of your people. It is an intense and a complex character indeed," says Vipin.

The actor has earlier appeared in films like Paan Singh Tomar, Gangs of Wasseypur, Raanjhanaa, Shahid, and Raman Raghav.

Set in Uttar Pradesh, Daas Dev has a political backdrop. It is about addiction, power, and love, and follows a path contrary to the plot of the classic novel Devdas, according to its director. The character played by Sharma is loosely based on Chunnilal from the original novel written by Bengali author Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay.

Daas Dev is slated for release on March 9.
