Kader Khan hospitalised in Canada; Amitabh Bachchan sends prayers

The 81-year-old actor was shifted from a regular ventilator to a BiPAP ventilator.

81-year-old veteran actor Kader Khan was hospitalised in Canada after he started developing breathing issues. The actor has been suffering from progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), a degenerative brain disorder that affects movement, walking, and balance. Doctors have reportedly transferred him from a regular ventilator to a non-invasive BiPAP ventilator. He has also shown signs of pneumonia, according to reports.

Born in Kabul, Afghanistan, Kader Khan has acted in over 300 films and written dialogues for over 250 films. He made his acting debut in the 1973 Rajesh Khanna-starrer Daag. Through the 90s, he was popular for his comic appearances in films like Dulhe Raja, Coolie No.1, Judaai, Aunty No.1 and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Raja Babu.

As a screenwriter, Kader Khan is known for his collaborations with Manmohan Desai and Prakash Mehra on their films starring Amitabh Bachchan. Big B, with whom Kader has shared screen-space in films like Do Aur Do Paanch, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Mr. Natwarlal, Suhaag, Coolie and Shahenshah, tweeted his prayers for the actor's recovery:
