We were the first to break the news about Vijay Sethupathi and Seenu Ramasamy's upcoming film titled Maamanithan. It's now known that Gayathrie, who was recently seen in Amazon Prime's first Tamil web series, Vella Raja, has been roped in as the female lead for the film.

Maamanithan went on floors last Friday in Theni and pictures from the set reveal that like Seenu Ramasamy's other films, this one too will be a village-based story.

This will be the seventh time Gayathrie teams up with Vijay Sethupathi. The duo have previously worked together on Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom, Rummy, Puriyadha Pudhir, Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren, and the yet to be released Seethakaathi and Super Deluxe. Interestingly, this is also Vijay Sethupathi's fourth collaboration with director Seenu Ramasamy after Thenmerku Paruvakaatru, Dharma Durai, and the unreleased Idam Porul Yaeval.

The film, which is the second production venture of Yuvan Shankar Raja, will mark the first time the music director and his father, Ilaiyaraaja, collaborate on the music of a film.
