The title and first look of Cheran's upcoming directorial, Thirumanam, was revealed by Vijay Sethupathi yesterday. The actor-director, who usually plays the lead in his directorials, took a  break from acting in his last project, JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai. And now, for the first time, he plays a supporting character in Thirumanam, which stars Thambi Ramaiah's son, Umapathy, and Kavya Suresh in the lead.

Speaking at the event Cheran said, "Thirumanam will talk directly to the middle and lower income section of the society. I am sure it will be a successful film - both critically and commercially." While it has been reported that he will be directing Vijay Sethupathi soon, the filmmaker added, "After actor Murali, I would say Vijay Sethupathi is the most wonderful human being I have seen. I have already written a story for him and I think we will do one down the line when the time comes."

Carrying the tagline 'Sila Thiruthangaludan (With a few corrections)', Thirumanam revolves around the pre-wedding phase of two youngsters and their families. Also starring Suganya, Thambi Ramaiah, MS Baskar, and Jayapraksh, the film has music by Siddharth Vipin, who previously worked with Cheran in JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai, and cinematography by Chennai 600028 II-fame Rajesh Yadav.

Apart from this film, Cheran is acting as the lead in the thriller Rajavukku Check, directed by Mazhai-fame Raj Kumar.
