After releasing the poster of Maanadu on July 10, all has been quiet on STR and Venkat Prabhu's end as far as updates regarding the film are concerned. However, we now hear that the film is expected to go on floors on February 3, 2019 on the occasion of Simbu's birthday. Suresh Kamatchi, the producer of the film, took to Twitter to announce the news, adding that Maanadu is a 'romance and power-packed action movie'. 

This is the first time that STR and Venkat Prabhu are collaborating on a film. While the filmmaker is currently involved in the post-production of Party, Simbu is awaiting the release of Vandha Rajavathan Varuven on Pongal 2019, when he clashes at the box office with Rajinikanth and Ajith.
