It looks like the success of Black Panther has Marvel Studios exploring an all-Asian film based on Shang-Chi comics. Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu, is a character who debuted in 1973 and was created by Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin (creator of Thanos). He is trained as a martial artist assassin by his father, the villain Fu Manchu, only to rebel against him and become a superhero instead.

The team has approached writer Dave Callaham, who is currently penning the script for the Wonder Woman sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, to adapt the character for the big screen. Callaham is also incidentally working on another Marvel film, Into the Spider-Verse 2.
