 Love Sonia wins big at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne

After serving as line-producer on international projects like Slumdog Millionaire and Life of Pi, Tabrez Noorani turns the lens on organised human trafficking in his directorial film, Love Sonia. The film, which stars Mrunal Thakur, Manoj Bajpayee, Richa Chadha, Rajkummar Rao, Sai Tamhankar, Adil Hussain, Demi Moore, Mark Duplass and Freida Pinto, follows a 17-year-old girl trying to rescue her sister from the clutches of a trafficking network spread across India, Hong Kong and Los Angeles.

Love Sonia was recently awarded the Best Indie Film award at the 2018 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), where it received a standing ovation. "After the incredible audience reactions in London and Melbourne, I am  thrilled that the film is now releasing back home in India. I am blessed with a powerful ensemble cast and all of them have contributed to make this film special," said director Tabrez Noorani.

Producer David Womark added, "I am deeply thankful for the accolades Love Sonia has got so far in London and Melbourne. Tabrez has made a powerful film and I am glad we are now releasing it in India."

Love Sonia is scheduled for release in India on September 14.
