Mardaani director Pradeep Sarkar is back after four years with the slice-of-life drama, Helicopter Eela. The film stars Kajol and National Award-winning actor Riddhi Sen. Adapted from a Gujarati play by writer-filmmaker Anand Gandhi, Helicopter Eela explores a mother-son relationship through humour and emotions.

“Kajol is a pleasure to work with.  She just owns a character and makes it so real.  As for Riddhi, well I am glad he is a part of this delightful drama. The film works on two levels. It showcases a mother's supreme sacrifice for her child. But, more importantly, it also showcases how a child is actually the parent of man. Riddhi is the one who shows Kajol how to take her own life forward. This generation kids believe in making their parents independent. Helicopter Eela has two facets of life that will hold a mirror to society,” says Sarkar.

Interestingly, Sarkar’s son Ronit has voiced a special song titled Mumma Ki Parchai for Helicopter Eela. He had previously sung the title track of Lafangay Parindey (2010), which was also directed by Sarkar.
