The filming of Mammootty-Vysakh's Pokkiri Raja sequel, Madhura Raja, has started in Ernakulam. Vysakh is once again teaming up with scriptwriter Udayakrishna for the film. Prithviraj, who starred in the original, will not be appearing in the sequel.

Like the first one, the sequel is also expected to be a mass entertainer. The female cast comprises Anusree, Mahima Nambiar and Shamna Kasim, while the film also features Salim Kumar, Aju Varghese, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Vijayaraghavan and Siddique.

Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu and Tamil actor Jai are also slated to appear in the film. Madhura Raja is produced by Nelson IPE under the banner of Nelson IPE Cinemas. Release is planned for sometime in the first half of 2019.
