The sequel to 2006's Vadivelu-starrer Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikecei was put on hold sometime ago due to creative differences between the actor and the makers. Allegations from the makers stated that Vadivelu was intervening in the making of the film and the issue was taken to the Nadigar Sangam.

In a letter to the Sangam, Vadivelu has stated that he had given dates till December 2016 for the film, but the shoot didn't go per plan and they even changed his costume designer. He also expressed grief at being belittled by the makers, who filed a complaint against him with the Tamil Film Producers Council. Vadivelu also added that the delay in the commencement of the project has lead to him not being able to sign other films, and if the TFPC plans on banning him, he'll deal with it legally.

Produced by Lyca Productions and Shankar’s S Productions, Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikecei is to be directed by Chimbu Devan, who also helmed the original. Parvathy Omanakuttan was roped in as the female lead for the film, which was supposed to have music by Ghibran.
