Actor-politician Vijayakanth's 40th year anniversary in the film industry was celebrated on Sunday. Veteran actors such as Sathyaraj, Sarathkumar, Nasser and directors such as Manobala and SA Chandrasekhar attended the event.
Speaking at the occasion, director SAC said, "When Vijay's debut film Naalaiya Theerpu bombed at the box office, I thought a film with Vijayakanth would give an impetus to Vijay's film career. I called up Vijayakanth for an appointment and he ended up at my house within minutes. He accepted my idea of doing a film without even listening to the story or talking about remuneration. That film, Sendhoorapandi, turned out to be a hit, and what Vijayakanth did by starring in it was a huge help for Vijay."
The director, who's currently acting in the biopic of Traffic Ramasamy, also stated that he would make a film with Vijayakanth in the lead next year. Producer Thanu, who was also present at the event, said he would bankroll that project.
Notably, SAC has made more than 15 films with Vijayakanth including blockbuster hits such as Sattam Oru Iruttarai which helped establish the latter as a star in Tamil cinema.
