Varalaxmi's next based on forest fire

CE Features

We had previously reported that Varalaxmi had signed a female-centric film titled Velvet Nagaram in which she plays an investigative journalist. The film, directed by debutant Manojkumar Natarajan, was kickstarted last month on the actor's birthday.

It's now known that the film is based on a forest fire which disrupts the livelihood of tribal people living in Kodaikanal. Varalaxmi's character Usha, who'll be based in Madurai, fights for the rights of these tribal people and brings those behind the crime to justice. The story will take place over the span of 48 hours.

Velvet Nagaram, produced by Makers Studio, also stars Ramesh Thilak, Arjai and Malavika of Super Singer fame. Achu Rajamani of Urumeen and Yaanum Theeyavan fame will be composing the music for this film, which is in its final leg of shoot.
