With Zachary Levi-starrer Shazam! slated to hit theaters on April 5, 2019, the production of the solo film of his rival, Black Adam, will begin in 2019.

In a recent press interaction, Dwayne Johnson, who will be playing the black suit donning supervillain, confirmed that a script has been turned in and that a few tweaks are all that are needed to lock the script. He also added that if everything goes per plan, the film will go into production from 2019.

The Baywatch star was announced as the supervillain back in 2014 itself, and the project has been in development for quite a while. Last October, Adam Sztykiel, who has co-written Johnson's next release, Rampage, was confirmed to pen the script for Black Adam.

Johnson had announced earlier that fans can expect Black Adam to appear in a film before 2020. And while it was confirmed that he won't be appearing in Shazam!, it's speculated that he'll make an appearance in Suicide Squad 2.
