Kollywood director Atlee has set his eyes on the Telugu industry and will soon direct his first Telugu film. He is going to join hands with producer Aswini Dutt and is planning to rope in one of the young superstars of the industry.

“Directing a Telugu film has been on his list for some time now. Earlier, he had pitched a story idea to Jr NTR. But nothing has worked so far. He is keen to work with Prabhas and the producer is also okay with it. However, that looks impractical now owing to the Baahubali actor’s back-to-back commitments. So, the duo wants to approach Allu Arjun, who is yet to lock his next project,” says a source.

Currently, Atlee is on a vacation abroad and he is expected to return to Hyderabad in three to four days to take the project forward.

When Cinema Express contacted Aswini Dutt, he remained tight-lipped about the developments. “We don’t have any concrete update on this project and it’s too early to divulge any details. The discussions are still in the nascent stages. We may have an update in a week’s time,” says Dutt.

If everything falls into place, Atlee and Allu Arjun’s film might go on floors later this year.
