Bhumi chooses scripts on instinct

While a Kannada film, Chambal starring Sathish Ninasam and Shraddha Srinath is currently rolling, another film of the same name is now being made in Bollywood. The film will feature Bhumi Pednekar, who will be seen playing the female lead in the upcoming Abhishek Chaubey directorial based on Chambal decoits.

Bhumi’s debut film Dum Laga Ke Haisha won a National Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi and her films Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan have both received a good response.

Asked if her upcoming Chambal will be a break from the 'simpleton' mould, Bhumi says, “I have never really chased a film to break that mould... I am not an actor who says now I will do romantic, urban, thriller films. I am not that sort of an actor. I purely go by my instinct when I read a script.”

The actress says she doesn’t understand “what might be good or bad for my career. I read a script and if the character and film excites me, I just want to be a part of it. That’s the person I am.” Bhumi says she chases characters. “I literally chase characters and I know that it (Chambal) is going to be challenging and is a tough film for me as well. I am very thrilled about doing this,” said the actress, who features with Sushant Singh Rajput in the movie.
