The much-awaited teaser of Vijay-starrer Mersal, which was initially expected to be released at the film's audio launch, will be instead out on September 21, which also happens to be the birthday of the film's director, Atlee.

The makers took to Twitter to break this news. Mersal, which is being made at a whopping budget of Rs 120 crore, will have Vijay playing multiple roles. The film, featuring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Aggarwal, Nithya Menen as the female leads, also stars Sathyaraj, Kovai Sarala, Vadivelu and SJ Suryah. Mersal, with music by AR Rahman, is currently in post-production, and is scheduled to hit the screens on Diwali.
