Veeraiyan, starring Inigo Prabhakar in the lead, is set for release this November. The film is set in the 90s. Ahead of the release of his debut film, director Fareed talks to us about his first offering. "We shot the film mainly in the areas in and around the historic Tanjore temple. I've tried to shed light on the value of these temples, which the present generation seems oblivious to. It is very disturbing to see such monuments being slowly destroyed."

Trying to send a message through a film to the youth of today, who are fed on a rich diet of masala movies, that too, with his first feature, could be considered a risk. But, Fareed sees it as a challenge instead. "My film has all the usual ingredients expected in a commercial entertainer, like songs. Inigo, who has mainly appeared in supporting roles so far, has done full justice as the main lead. He is a talented actor, and all he needed was the opportunity, which I'm glad I was able to give him."
