Saravanan Rajendran, an erstwhile associate of Balu Mahendra and Kamal Haasan, has turned a director with a romantic film starring newbie Ranga and Shweta Tripati in the lead.

Saravanan, who has worked as a co-director in films including Joker and Panjumittai (which is yet to release) has roped in his brother Raju Murugan to pen story and dialogues for this untitled film.

"We'll start shooting in Kodaikanal soon. Ranga, the protagonist, will be seen as a guy who works in a recording theatre and Shweta will play a gypsy. How they fall in love forms the rest of the story. Half the story will be a period film," he says.

While Sean Roldan is on board for music, the film has Ankur Vikal of Slumdog Millionaire in an important role.
