Jude Law to feature in Captain Marvel

Jude Law is reportedly in negotiations to play the lead opposite Brie Larson in Captain Marvel.

Ben Mendelsohn is already on board to play the villain, with Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directing the film. Kevin Feige is the producer.

The script is based on the character Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident. The resulting alteration gives her the superpowers of energy projection and flight.

Law will be playing Doctor Walter Lawson aka Mar-Vell, who becomes a mentor to Danvers as she tries to figure out her new powers.

At the San Diego Comic-Con, Feige had announced that the superhero film will be set in the 1990s, before the Avengers ever thought of assembling. Samuel L Jackson is expected to reprise his role as Nick Fury.

The film is expected to release on March 8, 2019.

Law will also be seen as young Albus Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and the third instalment of film Sherlock Holmes.
