'Aksar 2 an old-fashioned suspense drama'

The film, directed by Ananth Mahadevan, stars cricketer-turned-actor Sreesanth in one of the key roles

Filmmaker Ananth Mahadevan is excited about the release of his upcoming suspense drama Aksar 2. The film's second trailer was launched on Monday.

Last week saw the release of the suspense thriller Ittefaq, but Mahadevan says while that movie is about "who is the killer", his film is about the why and the how. "This makes it more intricate and more fascinating. It's actually a good old-fashioned suspense drama with black humour in it, and I feel audience will come out of theatres entertained by the story and plot."

In India, filmmakers very rarely experiment in the suspense thriller genre. Asked what prompted him to make this film, Mahadevan says, "That's one of the reasons why I attempted this film. Old-fashioned suspense dramas like those from Alfred Hitchcock days have been rarely explored in Indian cinema. It has been long since a pure suspense film has been released."

Aksar 2, which stars Zareen Khan, Gautam Rode, Abhinav Shukla, Lillete Dubey, Mohit Madan and S. Sreesanth in key roles, will be released on November 17.
