Costume designer Sathya NJ, who has worked in over 30 films, including Bairavaa and Kathi Sandai, has been interested in acting for quite a while now. Having done small roles in Jeeva, Vetrivel and Kidaari, he’s now looking forward to playing meatier character roles. “I pursued my dream of being a costume designer and became one. Now, to realise my dad’s dream of making me a cricketer, I’ve turned an actor,” he says. He explains, “I think it will help me be a part of the Celebrity Cricket League. This is why I started to act. They tell me that I should have played small characters in at least seven films.”

Sathya is now a part of AAA, Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Podhuvaga En Manasu Thangam, and Irumbu Thirai. “I enjoyed being a part of AAA the most. I am hopeful of getting more opportunities once the film releases this Friday,” he says.

His dream is to act with Vijay. “He figured out that I was interested in acting when I was working with him in Bairavaa. He’s one of the reasons why I am part of films today. He’s an extremely chilled out and encouraging personality. He has told me, ‘Everyone is acting. Nee future-la kandipa nalla varuva.’”
