Record price for Mersal audio rights 

Word has it that the audio rights for Vijay's next have been sold to Sony Music for a record breaking price

If sources are to be believed the audio rights of Vijay's Mersal has gone for a staggering price. The rights have been bagged by Sony Music South for a whopping Rs 3.5 crore, the highest in recent times for any film from the Tamil industry. The producers, Thenandal Films, have confirmed that the film's audio launch will be held on August 20. AR Rahman, who has composed the film's music, has previously worked on two other Vijay films - Udhaya and Azhagiya Tamil Magan

Meanwhile, the team has also gotten busy with the distribution rights. MKS Talkies has purchased the Australia and New Zealand release rights of the film, and is expected to release both the Tamil and Telugu versions. The company's Twitter profile confirmed this saying, "Mersal Australia and New Zealand deal done. Expect a Grand release this Diwali." 

Mersal, directed by Atlee, stars Kajal Agarwal, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nithya Menon as the female leads, with the rest of cast consisting of SJ Suryah, Sathyaraj, Vadivelu, Sathyan, Yogi Babu and Kovai Sarala.
