Kurukshetra gets its Draupadi in Sneha

The actress returns to Kannada cinema after three years, for a face off with Darshan who plays Duryodhana in his 50th film

Kurukshetra, as Darshan’s 50th film, was already the talk of the town. Then came the multi-star casting including Ambareesh, Ravichandran (for Krishna’s role), Hariprriya and Regina Cassandra. Music director V Harikrishna too was brought on board. Next, all the buzz was around who will play Draupadi in the film produced by Munirathna.

Names of a few South Indian actresses did the rounds, as contenders for this prominent role, and a source tells us that the filmmakers have finally decided on Sneha.

They were particular, we hear, to have the actress play this role. They believe that she will be a perfect fit as the stunning wife of the Pandavas. While we hear that they have managed to get Sneha on board, there is no official confirmation yet from the production house. An announcement would be made once both sides commit to this, or at the film’s launch, which will be on July 30.

The actress is a known name in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam industries and has also done few Kannada films. She is selective about her roles and her last film in Kannada was in Oggarane, which released in 2014. Kurukshetra’s Draupadi should be a challenging role for the actress, and a chance for her to do a period drama, something she has not attempted before.
