Express Features

The 2016 live-action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s eponymous collective works, The Jungle Book, inspired by Walt Disney’s 1967 animated film of the same name, received rave reviews and has led to a prequel that’ll be helmed by Andy Serkis. The film which was originally titled Jungle Book: Origins has been retitled Mowgli.

The story is said to focus on the upbringing of the human child Mowgli raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India as he learns how things work from under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo (Andy Serkis) and a panther named Bagheera (Christian Bale). What happens when he comes face to face with his human origins forms the crux of the story.

The film, produced by Warner Bros, will get released in October next year and will also feature voices of Benedict Cumberbatch (Shere Khan), Cate Blanchett (Kaa), Naomie Harris (Nisha), and Slumdog Millionaire-fame Freida Pinto (Messua).
