Batman in Ready Player One?

Express Features

The Ready Player One trailer, which was unveiled on December 11, has surprised fans. The film adaptation of author Ernest Cline's best-selling novel by Steven Spielberg is slated for a worldwide release on March 30, 2018.

Set in the year 2045 inside a virtual reality universe called the Oasis, the film will introduce audiences to CGI versions of various pop culture characters such as Gundam, Freddy Kruger, Lara Croft, Chucky, the Iron Giant, Street Fighter's Chun-Li, and Tracer from Overwatch. In addition to these, we also get a glimpse of popular DC Comics characters such as the Joker and Harley Quinn in the trailer at the 2 minutes 4 seconds mark.

However, what's most interesting is the possibility of Batman also being featured in the film. At the 41st second in the trailer, we get to see the Batmobile from the 1966 TV series, which featured Adam West as The Dark Knight. Although it is a blink-and-you-miss-it moment, this has led to speculation on whether a CGI version of Batman will make an appearance in Ready Player One.
