Ready Player One author developing script for sequel

Ernest Cline, the author of the book, that has been adapted by Spielberg for the big screen, has confirmed that he is working on a sequel

Ernest Cline is the author of  Ready Player One, which has been adapted for film by Steven Spielberg. The book went on to become a bestseller, and the author now confirms that he is indeed working on a sequel.

During a Facebook Live event, Cline shared details without revealing too much on the follow-up story. He said, "There’s no better inspiration for a writer to return to a world they’ve already worked on than watching Steven Spielberg bring that world to life."

Although it is unknown at this point when the novel will be out, it is believed, it will also be adapted for a film, if the first part turns out to be a success. 

Ready Player One stars Tye Sheridan and Olivia Cooke in lead roles, along with Ben Mendelsohn, Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg, TJ Miller, Hannah John-Kamen, Win Morisaki and Philip Zhao in supporting roles. The film is set in 2045 and showcases various pop culture elements from the 80s
