While it was widely speculated that Mammootty will start the new year with scriptwriter Sethu's debut directorial venture Oru Kuttanadan Blog,  the latest update is that the film has been pushed to mid-2018. Instead, it will be Shaji Padoor's Abrahaminte Santhatikal that will go on the floors first.

The film, that has Mammootty playing a cop named Derek Abraham, is a thriller that revolves around a crime and investigation. "We plan to go on the floors on January 1. However, we are yet to announce the name of the female lead, which we plan to do in a week," says Shaji Padoor.

Abrahaminte Santhatikal will be scripted by Haneef Adeni, whose debut film, The Great Father had Mammootty in the lead role. The film will be shot in and around Ernakulam. It will also have Anson Paul, Siddique, Shajohn and Renji Panicker.
