Much like the original Charlie Chaplin that released in 2002, the sequel, directed by Shakti Chidambaram and starring Prabhudheva in the lead, is going to have an ensemble cast. The latest to join the team is Vivek Prasanna of Vikram Vedha and Meyadha Maan fame. Talking to CE about the film, he says, "It's a family drama and I'm glad to be a part of the film. I'm yet to listen to the entire script, so I don't know much about my role. For now, I know that I will be playing Prabhudheva sir's friend in the film."

Charlie Chaplin 2, whose first schedule wrapped up in Goa recently, also stars Nikki Galrani as the female lead. Adah Sharma, who was seen in a song sequence in Simbu's Idhu Namma Aalu, is making her acting debut with this film. Produced by T Siva of Amma Creations, the film will have music by Amresh and Soundararajan as its cinematographer.
