House of Cards production to resume without Spacey

The sixth and final season will focus on Robin Wright's character

The final season of House of Cards will resume production in 2018 without Kevin Spacey. The actor was fired over allegations of sexual misconduct on the set of the show and off.

The sixth and final season of the show will be shorter and consist of just eight episodes. It will focus on Robin Wright's character.

"We are excited to bring closure to fans," Ted Sarandos,  chief content officer for Netflix, said during a conference on Monday, revealing that the 2,000 people who work on the show will get to return to work next year.

Netflix also decided not to move forward with a film starring Spacey as Gore Vidal. It's been rumoured that a House of Cards spin-off might be launched by the web streaming service.
