Sonal Chauhan: I would be happy to do 100 movies with Balakrishna

Sonal Chauhan, who awaits the release of Balakrishna-starrer Ruler this week, says she plays a meaty role in the film directed by KS Ravikumar. "I play Harika, a level-headed yet emotional woman. She knows what she wants and goes out of her way for it. She competes with the protagonist and it's going to be really exciting for you guys to watch us in action," says Sonal.

The actor has tried her hand at comedy in Ruler. "There are many entertaining scenes between me, Balakrishna garu, and others. The script gave me an opportunity to portray different emotions and I am blessed to have done this film," she adds.

About being stereotyped in her films, she says, "I have no complaints about the roles I have done. I look at my work as a whole. An actor is bound to work in a way that brings him/her a steady stream of roles. In my case, I am being offered only strong-headed woman kind of roles." She goes on to add, "If you see Kamal Haasan, he is known for his unmatched versatility. I hope I too will get will a chance to prove myself as a versatile actor. Given the opportunity, I want to do a de-glamourous village girl role."

On working with Balakrishna, Sonal says, "I have shared screen space with Balayya in Legend and Dictator. This is my third film with him. He is jovial, amicable, and a man with a great sense of humour. Thanks to him, the Telugu film industry has become a home to me. I would be happy to do 100 more movies with him."

Sonal believes that OTT platforms are the future of the entertainment industry. "I made my digital debut in Hindi with Skyfire. I genuinely feel that OTT platforms are going to rule the entertainment market. I have been interacting with many filmmakers and friends from the industry, who echo similar views. These platforms offer entertainment at our fingertips, and for someone like me, who doesn't like to go out, that's a boon."
