The X factor

Director Sojo Sundar talks to CE about his latest film X Videos

Getting off the block with an A-certified film isn’t an easy decision, but that’s exactly what director Sojo Sundar has done with X Videos, a film with which he’s tried to show the evils of the porn industry. He claims that the couples seen in such sites are from Islamic countries, and that India tops the list. “Though the notorious site from Poland has been banned, it is still in operation. First-time users join for free, but then get hooked, and begin spending money. My advice is that people keep away from such sites. You may want to step in for a look, but there’s a real danger of getting trapped,” he explains.

Sundar says his immediate goal is to spread awareness. “Research has revealed that a shockingly high percentage of youngsters are hooked onto this one site. True, there are many sites but the one which I am talking about is known for its high obscenity, and for causing suicides.”

Naturally, it was hard for him to find actors for such a film. “I’ve done the film with new faces. Mumbai models Akriti Singh and Riyamikka played their characters without flinching. I had to convince the male lead Ajay Raj to shed his reticence,” the director says with a smile.
