‘The action sequences in Ranam are very realistic'

Going by its stunning teaser, Ranam / Detroit Crossing promises to showcase its lead actor Prithviraj at his best. And, the latest update from director Nirmal Sahadev is that they have roped in international action choreographers for the action sequences.

"We have taken a realistic approach for Ranam. There is no rope technique or such. I wanted it to be an honest and relatable film and the script demands such an approach," says Nirmal.

He calls the film 'very performance-driven'. "It is not all about action, though. It is evident in the teaser itself how intense and emotional every moment is. Prithviraj has done a great job," says the director.

However, he refutes rumours that it is a revenge drama. "Ranam is a crime drama. Prithviraj plays a character who is lying low," he adds.

Isha Talwar's comeback

Isha Talwar, who wowed audiences in Thattathin Marayath and Bangalore Days, will make her comeback in Malayalam through Ranam. She has replaced Mamta Mohandas, who was initially cast for the role. And, according to Nirmal, Isha is all set to stun the audience with her stupendous performance.

"The real challenge is in giving the female lead a meaty role. Ranam, despite being an action thriller, will have Isha playing a well-fleshed-out character. She has done a great job and her new avatar will be a treat to watch," says Nirmal, who has also scripted the recently-released Hey Jude.

The film is currently in the post-production stage, and is likely to hit the screens by the end of March. A cross-over film, Ranam, also titled Detroit Crossing, was shot in Atlanta. The film also stars Rahman in a prominent role.
