For Poonam Bajwa, Masterpiece is her third filmwith Mammootty. So, when she flew down to Kollam from Mumbai for the shoot, she wasn't intimidated like the first time they acted together (Venicle Vyapari in 2011). Rather, the shoot was a breezy affair. "I had a blast on the sets. I enjoyed working with Mammootty sir.  But, what hooked me to Masterpiece is the role of a college lecturer. Rarely do such roles come to me. It is like a graduation, from student to teacher," she says.

She says wearing elegant saris and acting like a professor was a nostalgic trip. "It reminded me of my college days. It felt so surreal to be acting as a teacher. But, in the end, it was such a great experience. It was something I was looking forward to ever since Ajay Vasudev narrated the script to me," says Poonam, adding how grateful she is with the way the trailer and song have been received. But, Poonam is tight-lipped about the film itself.

And, how has her Malayalam industry experience been? "It is interesting. Whenever I am on the sets of a Malayalam film, I can easily converse in Malayalam and interact with people. But, I seem to lose the skill once I go back," she laughs, adding that Kerala has always been a special place for her. "Kerala is close to me. If I get a few days free, my instant reaction is to hop on a flight and come to Munnar. So, I never feel alien here," she adds.

There would be very few actors like Poonam, with a career graph spread across all four states. She has done films in almost every South Indian language, and Poonam says she never felt that language was a barrier. "As an actor, I am greedy. If I get characters that I love to do, the language won't stop me from taking it up. I adapt easily," she says.

So what other projects does she have in her kitty? "I am listening to a few scripts, including Malayalam. I will announce them soon," she says.
