Duplicate marked Shah Rukh Khan's first of many collaborations with Dharma Productions.

Srk played a double role after playing a triple role in English Babu Desi Mem, ironically both having Sonali Bendre.

The original choice for Lily (the role played by Sonali Bendre) was Ramya aka Divya Spandana.

Kajol did a cameo role for the sake of Shah Rukh. She appears in a scene at the railway station.

Duplicate is a remake of the American film, The Whole Town's Talking (1935).

After Gumrah (1993), Yash Johar and Mahesh Bhatt worked together again in Duplicate.

The only film to star Sonali and Juhi together.

The film was delayed for 2 years because of financial issues.

In the beginning,, Mannu points his gun at a cop and says, 'I know what you're thinking. Did I fire six shots or only five? I don't know'. This is a tribute to Clint Eastwood's 'Dirty Harry'.

The songs featured in the film are composed by Anu Malik with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar.

The film's writing credits were shared by Robin Bhatt, Akash Khurana, and Javed Siddiqi. Mahesh Bhatt was the director.

Ravi B & Alison Hinds song 'Potion' was a cover version of 'Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam'.

Anu Malik re-used the tune of the song 'Badlon Mein Chhup Raha Hai Chand Kyun' from the movie 'Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee' for this film's song 'Waah Ji Waah'.

The song Ladna Jagadna was sampled from Ella Fitzgerald's 'A-tisket A-tasket and the Tom and Jerry theme music.

Ek Shararat Hone Ko Hain was sampled from original Song - Laura Allen's 'Slip and Slide.

The songs were rendered by Kavita Krishnamurthy, Alka Yagnik, Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan & Abhijeet Bhattacharya.

The movie, made on a budget of 9.5 crores (equivalent to ₹34 crores now) made 21.49 crore (equivalent to ₹78 crores now) at the BO

Overseas, it was the 3rd-highest-grossing film of 1998 behind Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dil Se which were also Shah Rukh Khan starrers.

Duplicate's background score was composed by Louis Banks.

The film was shot by Sameer Arya.
