From Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi to Vakeel Saab, revisiting Pawan Kalyan's remakes

In a career spanning over 25 years and 26 films, Pawan Kalyan has acted in 10 remakes so far and Vakeel Saab marks the actor's 11th remake. Here we take a look at the star's career through the remakes.

Pawan Kalyan's 1996-debut Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi - a love story between two youngsters who belong to rival families - was an official remake of Aamir Khan-starrer Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.
Pawan's sophomore film, Gokulam Lo Seetha, yet another love story, was an official remake of the Tamil film Gookalathil Seethai starring Karthik and Suvalakshmi in lead roles.
Continuing with the streak of successful remakes, Suswagatham, the actor's third film, was a remake of the Vijay-starrer Love Today. Devayani played Suvalakshmi's character in the remake.
Inspired by Aamir Khan's Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Thammudu marked the beginning of Pawan Kalyan's action-film-hero phase, with the actor performing his own stunts. Vijay remade it in Tamil as Badri.
Kushi co-starring Bhumika - directed by SJ Suryah, who also directed the original film by the same name starring Vijay - was a resounding success at the box office in 2001.
After a couple of misses like Johnny, Bangaram, and Gudumba Shankar, Pawan Kalyan returned with Annavaram, the remake of Thirupacchi, once again starring Vijay.
Teen Maar, the remake of Saif Ali Khan-Deepika Padukone-starrer Love Aaj Kal, saw the return of Pawan Kalyan to romance in 2011.
Arguably his biggest commercial success, Gabbar Singh was an official remake of Salman Khan-vehicle Dabangg. The 2012 film was a return to form at the box office for Pawan after a string of failures.
Pawan Kalyan, who is no less than a demigod for his fans, played a God in Gopala Gopala in 2015, alongside Venkatesh, in this remake of Oh My God! which starred Akshay Kumar as God.
2017's Katamarayudu, which borrowed its title from a song sung by Pawan in Attharintiki Daredi, was an official remake of Ajith Kumar-led Veeram.
The much-awaited Vakeel Saab - Pawan's 11th remake - sees the actor reprise the role played by Amitabh Bachchan in Pink, a courtroom drama.
