Revisiting Ishq: 30 interesting facts about the iconic Aamir Khan - Ajay Devgn starrer

Kajol and Ajay Devgan, who are now married with one daughter named Nysa, met on the sets of this movie.

The film was one of the most expensive films of its time but still was a big blockbuster. The film earned ₹53.2 crore, against a budget of ₹10 crore

Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla were a hit screen pair involved in many big films. But because of a prank Aamir played on Juhi on the Ishq sets, Juhi refused to collaborate with Aamir thereafter.

Aamir Khan said he did this film mainly because it had very high commercial promise and because he admired his fellow cast members Juhi Chawla, Ajay Devgan and Kajol.

Aamir Khan and Kajol would later work with each other in Fanaa (2006).

The last film in which Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla worked together.

Amitabh Bachchan was to star in the film. His role was to start after the intermission. He was to play a key character who helps bring the couple's together.

Director Indra Kumar launched another film titled Rishta to be co produced by Amitabh. The two had some serious financial issues prompting Big B to drop out of Ishq.

A song was already recorded by Sudesh Bhosle called 'Mr Lova Lova', in his style of Amitabh's voice. Indra Kumar then shot the song with Johny Lever wearing different get ups from Big B's songs.

This is the only movie to feature Juhi Chawla and Kajol, Shah Rukh Khan's most famous lead heroines from other movies, on screen together.

The tune of the song 'Ishq Hua ' was taken from the whistling intro of the 'E Mere Humsafar' from Baazigar.

Karisma Kapoor was approached for Kajol's role but she turned it down because she did not want to work with Ajay Devgan.

Ajay Devgan and Juhi Chawla had already worked with each other in Naajayaz (1994) before working together in Ishq.

Madhuri Dixit was first offered the part of Juhi Chawla. But she rejected the role.

Indra Kumar had planned the film back in 1991. He had signed Aamir Khan and Pooja Bhatt. But Aamir Khan and Pooja Bhatt had problems prior to the shoot and both opted out.

The song Kaise Kahoon Kaise Ho Tum was sampled from Right beside you' by Sophie B Hawkins.

WWE Singh Brother's posted a video on you tube of them dancing to the song 'Humko Tumse Pyar Hain' with WWE owner Stephanie McMahon .

The role of Kajol was first offered to Manisha, and then to Karishma.

The music was composed by Anu Malik. The Ishq soundtrack album sold 3 million units, making it the year's sixth best-selling Bollywood soundtrack album.

The film was one of the earliest movies to have a theatrical release in Canada.

It was the third highest-grossing Hindi film of 1997, behind Dil To Pagal Hai and Border.

Ishq's gross is equivalent to ₹375 crore, if adjusted for inflation in 2020.

The Kannada remake of the film, Snehana Preethina, was released in 2007.
