With Dharma Prabhu, starring Yogi Babu as Yamaraja. hitting the theatres today, we take a look at the Tamil films that have portrayed Yama and Yamalogam in their own distinctive styles

Vinu Chakravarthy's version of Yamaraja, ably supported by Cho Ramaswamy as Vichitragupta, comes a close second. Almost stealing the show from Rajinikanth, they bring the roof down with their antics.
It comes as no surprise that Sivaji Ganesan had played Lord Yama. Well, is there any character he hasn't set a standard for! Thengai Srinivasan plays Chitragupta in the 1980 film, Yamanukku Yaman.
Vijay Sethupathi's 'hip' depiction of Yama in Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren failed to create the desired effect. The fantasy-comedy also went largely unnoticed.
Vadivelu played the God of death in his own loud way in the 2008 film, Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan. The fantasy-comedy , which mostly opened to poor reviews, was a major letdown.
