Kadaram Kondan is one of the titles given to Rajendra Cholan, following his conquest of Kadaram, which is modern-day Malaysia. So, a literal translation would mean the conqueror of Kadaram/Malaysia. Rajesh M Selva's crime-thriller, set in Malaysia, features Vikram as a commando double agent.

Superstar Rajinikanth plays Kabaleeswaran, a revolutionary who fights for the betterment of Tamils in Malaysia in Pa Ranjith's 2016 film, Kabali.

Ajith Kumar's 2007 film, Billa, follows Velu, a pickpocket, who gets to impersonate the underworld don, Billa, who is featured on Interpol's criminal list, and is hiding and operating out of Malaysia.

Kuruvi (2008) follows a car-racer (Vijay) who sets out to Malaysia to look for the man responsible for his father's disappearance, where he eventually falls in love with the villain's daughter.
