World Population Day: 10 films that have foreseen overpopulation and its repercussions

With 8 billion being the number today, the threat of overpopulation looms humanity.

Soylent Green (1973): We're only a couple of years away from the events of this film. Set in 2022, as a consequence of industrial revolution, the earth is devoid of food, water and housing.
Logan's Run(1976): Depicts a dystopian future society in which population and the consumption of resources are managed by the simple notion of killing everyone, who reaches the age of thirty.
Waterworld (1995): Ice caps have melted, and all of Earth's land have submersed. The few surviving humans, who live in big ships, are poor, ignorant and void of resources
Children of Men (2006): The world of 2027 is on the verge of its own extinction, after 18 years of human infertility.
WALL-E (2008): The film touches on population evacuation from Earth, which has turned into a wasteland, due to environmental ignorance.
The Age of Stupid (2009): Despite repeated warnings of climate change, the overpopulated global civilization keeps polluting the environment, which leads to massive catastrophe in 2055.
Mother: Caring for 7 Billion (2011): A theatre professor demonstrates long-term effects of human population growth on humanity’s ability to sustain itself in the face of the finite natural resources.
Interstellar (2014): The world is becoming uninhabitable. The characters in the film have lost hope of life on earth, leading to global eviction.
Inferno (2016): Based on Dan Brown's novel, the film features a scientist attempting to deplete world's population through a deadly plot.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018): With the world's increasing population, the mad titan, Thanos, feels that the universe requires 'correction.'
