Ohh My Dog, the Amit Rai directorial venture that explores the dog-human being bond, will soon have its OTT premiere on Netflix. Starring Pankaj Tripathi and Pavan Malhotra, among others, the film will begin streaming on Thursday, October 1, with a theatrical window of nearly 8 weeks.
While the streamer hasn’t officially announced the date, the film’s listing can be seen on the website. Also written by Amit Rai, Ohh My Dog unfolds in two timelines, telling two stories at once — While Appu (Mahi Rai) loses his indie dog Momo, who doesn’t return after running out to fetch a ball, Prince, a young labourer in Bihar goes missing, compelling his loyal dog Oscar to turn into a dog detective.
The film’s supporting cast includes Geeta Aggarwal Sharma, Rajesh Kumar and Shreedhar Dubey. Produced by Rajesh Bhardwaj, Amit Rai and Sana Warsi, the film had in its technical team Máté Herbai as the cinematographer, who has worked on prominent international films like On Body and Soul (2017) among others.
According to Sacnilk, Ohh My Dog collected Rs. 5.88 crore nett at the domestic box office.
In our review for the film, we noted, “On a plot level, Ohh My Dog can feel a bit convenient at times. One dog’s howl for help can’t really gather an army of strays. It’s tough to believe a child can have Sherlock-sharp detective skills. But the film hooks you with its emotions. You root for the characters. You want Appu to reunite with Momo, you want Oscar to rescue his Prince.”
